An Awakening in the Cold!
An Awakening in the Cold!
As dawn was broken the sky did clear – beholding the shining light,
Growing with momentum the climbing rise – a window’s vista looking bright!
Many layers added in anticipation – out of retirement the snuggling top,
Receptacles gathered – all present and correct – a recurring list that does not stop!
A kindly deliverance with a kindred union – sharing in fondly smiles,
Enjoying the company – sharing peace of mind – as we weave the thrice of miles!
Freshness nips at the exposed extremities – as destination arrives we step outside,
With duly function – in the layby junction – where we say thank you for the ride!
From the stream our avenue rises like a homemade loaf – with the contours of the crust,
Where the cracks are covered but they soon come back – in a cycle I can trust!
Picking out the footfalls rather than taking the slide – a canopy to shade our view,
We settle a breath and brush through the gateway – as history says we always do!
There’s a thirst for a fire and soon it’s alight – warming the tips of fingers and toes,
Filling up the senses and feeling the cold – the chill of the season – in full throws!
The Mistletoe berries stand out in their prime – left to rest in an offering ball,
At the foot of the Oak in the southern corner – taking shape and form for nature’s call!
Preparation springs into motion – and the jigsaw pieces they take their place,
The triadic sided table top finding its legs – sharing former glories reflected in its face!
On the tick before the tock – with a ticking of the clock – the greeting party slip away,
With a casual wander along the hallowed pathway – that runs me to the Grove each day!
Envy finds distraction in a pile of local stone – where two roads become as one,
The Weeping Willow displays the shaping of shadings – where the chickens get their fun!
We make for our rendezvous at the top of the hill – scanning the scene for a sign,
As bright as a button and brimming excitement – tucked away where all is fine!
Paviland plays his hand and displays perfect timing – and we all can meet in the now,
Adjusting the seating – for a meet and a greeting – down the hill and over the brow!
We go round the bend and come to a standstill – where we enter from the west,
Sharing the moment to take it all in – with a proud heart beating in every chest!
The entrance candles dancing all of a flicker – a welcome greeting to one and all,
New faces and old – they’re attacked by the cold – a bonding moment beyond the call!
With preparations completed – there’s a run for the record – with everything explained,
The incense smoulders seductively in hanging wafts – in a perfect circle self-contained!
Enter the Awakening – the star of the show – flowing with the drink of life,
We taste and toast of the life of the spring – where the burst of growth is rife!
Sharing in the day with the flow of the elements – firmly set on winter’s chill,
Gripped by the cold of the season – cold to the touch – making a connection standing still!
With a cycle of the circle we come to close – and each they leave in different ways,
One’s by ones and two’s by twos – preparing to scatter in a glorious blaze!
Paviland tends our group with each a delivery – as we retire to reflect on the day,
We creep into sunset and warm with the thaw – as the Grove is left to play!
