Beginnings
Beginnings
In frost and snow an invisible light sets ..go!
Winter weeps behind Spring thats come,
grows flowers that flow yellow
over braes and banks, to dance
leaves wrest from trees, make busky bushes
rhubarb breaks ground to give again
heralds amid the bustling birds,
Sanguinity of soil spawns roots
drifts everywhere to test its tenacity
strikes into mountains to climb crests
continues along ways of water,
even desert dust is gripped,
Till a day when men mechanised
and slashed the soil with little toil to destroy,
by a digger or a chain-saw,
shoots, fixed, can’t bear away like a boat
or from a hand that kills,
inferiors in gardens are game
Weed! their fate in a name,
Will microbes be the agents
to harvest humans,
two legged life that excells in conflict,
creatures clever enough to kill continents, yet
not to develope to endure annoyance from neighbours
nor warlike raids that rampage, unseen,
Could that be a cause for wisdom to instil
if could reverse and grasp the chance
to put our warring resources into a plan, not
to mock the land, instead,
let grow, plants and people,
Hierarchy in society abated
we await our fate, fearful,
the earth may be alone again
to be overgrown!
