Beltane Fires!
Beltane Fires!
The first of May this year seemed to pass by without a may pole dance or the sound of Morris bells jingling, but the dawn chorus is enough to say summer is near.
On the sixth of May our Beltane ceremony was a nice relaxed affair with just Little Raven and myself, we had a leisurely cycle ride to the Grove and I had plenty of time before the ceremony to do a spot of mowing.
We set up the centre table, decorated the Beltane stone ( which was surrounded with cowslips) and made two small fires for the entrance, now we could begin.
We honoured our ancestors, thanked the spirits of the earth and toasted the directions with a goblet of mead, and as we left the Circle we walked between the Beltane fires, the smoke cleansing and protecting us from harm.
Until next time – Glentaowen
