Part 7: Hidden Gems
Part 7: Hidden Gems
Dated 18th May 2020
1.
It must have been there, openly, since March
Hidden from prying eyes
Content in its own beauty
I came upon it by chance
A prize within an unkempt patch
Within surrounds of Bamboo, and Grannies Bonnet
That Primula preened proud
More likely smug
Cosseted away awaiting display
2.
They came by night
With stealth, in silence, growing without pause
Where once was green all around
A lawn so smooth, now white
Offering welcome sights day long
Rains dropped down, lawn grew so fast
Sadly now it’s time to mow
White turns green, no daisies seen
Are they forever gone one asks
By chance a few in gravel bloom
Their sturdy stems well lodged in stone
Their petals formed so white and pure
