Yonderland!
Yonderland!
Creeping up on the May Day madness – with my first Grove visit of 2024,
the wonder of a belated Birthday celebration – as we step inside the door!
A Pheasant rumbles its midday greeting – from an unknown point of view,
a faraway Buzzard calls as first responder – with a warm welcome unto you!
Pink kissed white blossoms form a natural archway – delivering the opening scene,
the Silver Birch standing tall – grand and majestic – dancing in the green!
Songbirds whistle – projecting their harmonies – as the wind gusts across the page,
a multitude of discarded eggshells – random colours and sizes – the spirit of the age!
A symphony of energy – conducted by the elements – the wind blows the clouds away,
from east to west – with a real zeal and zest – laying out the tone of the day!
Brunch shares its purpose with the mapping of plans – just like the passing of time,
the echoes of symmetry wrapped in evolving thoughts – each remembered in a rhyme!
The work detail – sets a blazing trail – igniting a fire with a spark,
clearing the deadwood – the old and the dying – making a statement – leaving a mark!
The flickering flames – play their favourite games – licking at the taste of the air,
nipping at the chill – with a persistent will – warming me nicely in a nearby chair!
An Orange Tip Butterfly wrestles with the breeze – fluttering along for the ride,
a Crow fights the flow in determined show – rising and falling against the tide!
Pigeons weaving hither and thither – carving a flight path to and fro,
a white bottomed Bumble Bee – out for adventure – forever on the go!
Taking a moment and capturing images – a Cowslip clump in Yonderland,
brightly like a beacon it stands in glory – with its surroundings as yet unplanned!
Tucking the fire into bed with its smouldering edges – I watch the last flurry of flame,
exploring the natural fixtures and fittings – the season building blocks of nature’s frame!
With the taming of footpaths and going around in circles – the visage spick and span,
the carpark in Yonderland tidied and ship-shape – placing the first cross on the plan!
Speculation ponders the home of the Labyrinth – seeking its spot in the sun,
beginning with an entrance nice and subtle – before the technical work is done!
Following the lay of the land – with theories and wonderment – to define in time to come,
with tentative creations – imaginary lines and borders – banging on the drum!
Conclusive contentment it paints smiles on faces – as we wind on down the day,
The fire dies to embers – as our time-line surrenders – and we are off and on our way!
