The Beech and Pine!
The Beech and Pine!
I remember where I stood within the Beech and Pine,
Lost within the moment – it could be yours or mine!
Where fire’s smell of memories and the canopy holds you warm,
Where a family of Hares are free to wander – taking in the dawn!
I remember the echoes of sentiment – celebration built in praise,
A connection formed an instant understanding – in a gathering of days!
With a lining of leaves over generations – for a carpet under foot,
Trees and branches strewn asunder – where nature wants them put!
I remember the journey’s – following pathways – inclusive and within,
Trodden well and through the ages – let the trail of thought begin!
An outlook on the big red moon – to savour with a group of friends,
And a run to greet the Solstice Sun – from where the woodland ends!
I remember the firewood piled in its range of sizes – to reach on through the night,
Company curled with the weave of smoke – as we smouldered with the light!
Waves of ripples sailed upon the Beech leaves – calmly rustling overhead,
Caressed by the power of the wind on the Ridgeway – a shelter for my bed!
I remember the flow of my lap of honour and where I came to rest,
Just off the path and low in a tree – the eggs that lined the nest!
A sanctuary for a summer season – where the roots can clasp a hold,
Where bonds were born to span the ages – the greatest story ever told!
