Reflecting on the Breeze!
The Sunlight drips through the crowns of shade – dappled under the trees,
Igniting the peace with its veil of highlights – reflecting on the breeze,
For decades rolling with the life in the fields – the cycle of season’s age,
Reflections gathered with the sowing seed – the Spider crawls across the page!
The threads of roads that dream adventure – converge on junction’s choice,
Contemplation dictates to the flow of direction – so soft on nature’s voice,
After a drift with the smoke – at the gate to ponder – on the rising to the hill,
Where the ploughing furrows blaze their trails – where the Spinney holds its will!
Over the stretch of years where memory serves – we made a skirting of the crop,
To gaining a view of the expanding horizon – from the Spinney at the top,
Curiosity called and we followed the hedge-line – where the field it met its end,
Alongside the reaching of a plantation of Spruce – with a diagonal to its bend!
Funnelled with the features to the bottom corner – arriving at the hedge,
We wander forward through the open gateway – and peer around the edge,
It opens out on a field of grass – where a small herd of Roe Deer move slowly away,
A gathering of Mothers encouraging their fawns – to keep up and not to stray!
At a standstill we smile at this silent wonder – as they stop and cast their gaze,
With our eyes we follow the direction of their interest – to our right a little ways,
There appears a grand regal Stag for a subject – standing alone and in his prime,
Motionless he watches us so tall and proud – we are transfixed for quite some time!
After what seems like an age he lowers his guard – As the herd it slips away,
With a gentle decorum and an air of grace – he turns and leaves our day,
In an instant he blends with the growth of the hedgerow – dissolving out of view,
We share an expression conceived of the moment – a memory I share with you!
