Hawks & Ravens!
Hawks & Ravens!
There’s a pale blue sky full of seasonal sunshine – through a marbled whitewash of morning cloud,
There’s a Songbird symphony sang in reels and melodies – with a Raven cronking loud and proud!
A Pheasant ruffles with a stark announcement – the Mallard schedule right on time,
With the yellowed green fields like a rolling carpet – while the Skylark twitters in his prime!
The Mole leaves its mountains as the Wood Pigeons scatter – where we enter through the gate,
A Sun warmed welcome for a Spring Equinox gathering – never a moment to understate!
Breathing in the air that’s hosting proceedings – the turning of the sun-wheel shares the day,
A fine picture painted in the colours of memories, shadows of influence as we walk the way!
A from no-where Rabbit sprints the entrance path – like a bolting from the blue,
A Raven sees the seas of sailing to the North – stirring up in circles to take in the view!
With a casual leaning and the rise of the hill – there’s a couple to make up a three,
Taking in the contours over the crowning of the hill – what a sighting for to see!
A Buzzard takes a bow with an eastern rise – rippling out in circles in sweet repose,
From the South there comes – a pair a calling – with a subtle sweep he shows!
Interaction on the wing of a personal nature – all touchy feely with talon claws,
Calling and circling – three becomes a crowd – with one shipping off to distant shores!
One hand it counts a gathering of Carrion – descending in unison a gate to the North,
Interspersing investigation with petty squabbles – with their constant bobbing back and forth!
Preparation hurries a Shrew into the undergrowth – with the woven Hornbeam standing guard,
Sharing of its shelter – with the gathering of Mole hills – left in abundance as a calling card!
A Buzzard In plural with stereo circles – intertwining visions above the Sunwheel Grove,
Drifting at their ease and floating with the breeze – gracing the moment while on the rove!
Retiring for privacy they the take their leave – over the hedgerow and gone from sight,
The Sun’s fade from view it nips the air – unveiling a backdrop – a silver glowing light!
With elemental flourishes we plant our seed – we savour the moment within and without,
With Earth and Ash and slow running Water – with the best of starts and a want for nowt!
Robin makes his arrival – watching from the Alder – a gesture that could never be planned,
Kestrel attends from the East – with a sweep of the Willow – check out our airspace in demand!
Gone but not forgotten he returns to the Willow – happy in the under-hang surveying all he sees,
With careful adjustment he moves from East to South – sat with a viewpoint from the Trees!
In time there is a half-circle settled North-East – watching proceedings with great intent,
With the seeming of timelessness he passed on by – to who knows where he went!
Looming on the thermals with a casual hover – a Red Kite honours the day in majestic pause,
The newest of visitors in its handsome form – above the Grove it gently soars!
Returning to our focus after an interval – we count our blessings and feel the peace,
With the ending of closing – with thoughts in reprise – we step into the light and find release!
With the fading of the flames – we discover seasonal chills – as everything is put in its place,
A Pheasant on the shed roof goes up in the world – and steps out of the race!
Tucking in the seed bed from inquisitive minds – with a final water for the day,
Restoration it echoes in the glow of the lanterns – holding the tone and leading the way!
A Hare it stands and watches – from the field in the West – as we ready all to go,
A Raven’s farewell at the top of a climb – with a flyby Dove and Crow!
The Buzzards perform their rounding of sunset hill – as we leave on through the gate,
Greeted with a smile as we cross over the stream – on a day that was truly great!
