Part 13: Martins Nest
Part 13: Martins Nest
Dated 3 June 2020
Last year we watched our neighbour’s house, its roofline home to families of House Martins.
Things change, we now have a brood building their mud-spatter home on our cottage. Atop electrical power cables, beneath a sheltering roof overhang, perhaps the electrical flow warms or soothes.
Last night saw them sleep over for the first time, precariously perched on the start of their newly dried foundations.
By the next day’s end a wide ledge was made, now two days later a cosy home is complete. We avidly await the creation of new life, hopefully to see them take first flight.
