The Spring Equinox Calling!
The Spring Equinox Calling!
With Paviland arriving on the stroke of noon – full of the joys of early spring,
The Spring Equinox calling one and all to gather – A many splendored thing!
Rolling the ribbons – refreshing familiar memories – retracing the hands of time,
Re-acquainted with the scenery – dressed up in its greenery – projected in its prime!
A Kestrel swoops and hovers above our arrival – while the Crows they dance and play,
A free-form performance in rolls and tumbles – as we climb out on the day!
The Gatekeeper bids us welcome with a genuine smile and we step down from the road,
Into the cozy corner with its winter clearance – with anticipation set to overload!
In time honoured fashion we enter the gateway – following footprints through the ages,
Contemplation finds inspiration in random keywords – painting views for poetry pages!
Sauntering the contours of the entrance pathway – leading to its very end,
Where we pause in admiration of Glentaowen’s fencing – where withies weave and bend!
The Songbirds singing – atop the naked Silver Birch – proudly showing off their buds,
The Gatekeeper leads a tour around the Yonderland – with planned intent in floods!
Pointing out the pleasantries – of views and sightlines – proposing features all in mind,
I sit and soak in the energy of the moment – where the peace is there to find!
There’s time for forty winks for those in need – while memories drift on by,
Communing with Nature in subtle degrees – lost in thought and watching the sky!
Preparation calmly provides a motivation – following the scripts of time and space,
Laying of the Lanterns and deciphering the celebration circle – and all at a steady pace!
With flickering flames and the Incense smouldering – one and all we stand in line,
With a chime of the Sun Gong the procession parades – the Sun peeps through to shine!
A cronking Raven mirrors our circumnavigational route – with several laps to spare,
We share in the moment as we take up our places – until it fades and is no longer there!
With the closing of festivities – the energy majestic – sheltered amidst the circle of trees,
In the north/western edges swoops the recent resident Barn Owl – hunting on the breeze!
For several long moments – we stand a rooted collective – one and all agog in awe,
A gift from Mother Nature to end our celebrations – a magnificent day for sure!
We are serenaded by the Long-Tailed Tits – an age-old visitor and regular friend,
Hopping from Silver Birch to Silver Birch – re-living their typical late afternoon trend!
We divide the spoils and pack away our provisions – before we are set to leave,
We share in the moment and count our blessings – wearing our hearts upon our sleeve!
