Welcome to the Grove!
Welcome to the Grove!
And welcome to the view from the Bard’s Chair!
Sitting with my back to the Holly Garden,
From the North – I cast my perusal gaze!
To my left – the curving frontage of the Moon Garden,
With its hedgerow lining the pathway of our days!
To the East and its wind-chimes – with its home for the Alder,
Where the feathers gather fluttering as they rise upon the Air!
Saluting it’s passing with the view of the snow-berries,
The far end of the Moon Garden meeting us there!
On past the old Willow where the wild Bees have nested,
Following the pathway to where the Hawthorn grows!
The hedge of the field ditch where the hills they are draining,
Past the home of the Bluebells – to where the element flows!
To the South and the young Oak – that’s nearing the corner,
The home of the Fire pit and the height of the Sun!
The tangle of Brambles that provide for our feasting,
And the focus of thinking all wrapped up in one!
The twist of the Hazel that’s moved more than mountains,
Stands proud and attentive – at each end of the bed!
The calling of the nectar in our butterfly garden,
A sanctuary – it is for me – a place to rest your head!
Moving along to the birth of the roundhouse,
A footprint of the bigger picture – where Ceremony begins!
Sat next to the flow of the runaway and growing with its age,
A connection with our history – where understanding sings!
In the West stands a Russet Tree in memory of my Father,
With its twin as an entrance to our gateway and path!
Here stands our Altar to honour our Ancestors,
Held by the water in the West – laid out below the grass!
Starting with the Crab Apple Trees, our Orchard enters the scene,
Swelling with the buds of life – feeling the sap is on the rise!
With Cherry – Pear – Fruit and Nut – With Autumn as its gathering,
The food for thought and the dark of Winter – a harvest for the wise!
On to the three – a Yew Tree planting and remembrance for thought,
The permanence of the life of living – guiding us on our way!
The panoramic field of my visions – now comes to a winter close,
I am back to where I rest my bones – and I welcome you this day!
Before me wheels the perfect circle standing with the Stones,
A ring of outer Silver Birch to symbolise new life!
Set within an outer bank and ditch – so the circle is complete,
Where years have passed with celebration – poignant and discreet!
